Whenever I walk by Wray cottage on my way to Grasmere, I feel oddly drawn to it. I feel the sense of the familiar. When we visited the Tate, I realized it look very much like the painting Carrington did on her honeymoon in the Lake District almost 100 years ago. The painting is on the cover of a biography of Carrington that I received for Christmas in 1989, a decade before I ever first visited the Lake District.
