Lake District: Elterwater to Grasmere

I escape to wander alone. I feel the thrill of adventure as I set out from Elterwater. Not from undertaking something risky or even exploring something new. But because the landscape is such fodder for the imagination.

Although there is little traffic, I avoid the road and cross the meadow. There is a path here. I see the some stone steps.

Looking back at Elterwater.
Downhill now and the sun comes out.
Sitting on a conveniently located bench looking across at Grasmere.
When I’m suffering in the summer heat of Texas, I step into this picture.
