While reading a guide book on Nevada (in preparation for our vacation to Lake Tahoe), I came across the photo caption “The old Minden Flour Mill dates from 1906”.<\/p>\n
\nI showed it to the Mancunian and said, “Wow. They really have a different idea of what constitutes “old” here. Just think of that house down the street from your Mom’s that was built in 1787…and it’s considered just an ordinary house.”<\/p>\n
\nAJM replied, “Old!?! 1906 is not old. I’ve shat in toilets older than that.”<\/p>\n
\n“At Oxford?”<\/p>\n
\n“Even in Manchester.”<\/p>\n
