1. What are the first things that you do in the morning to start your day?

Stretch until I can move without creaking. Drink the coffee that AJM makes for me before he goes to work. Get up and spend an hour on the computer: check email, read the headlines on Yahoo!, look at job postings, and check the blogs. Go outside and inspect the garden for changes.

2. What are the last things that you do at night before going to bed?

Read. Turn out the lights. Snuggle.

3. What daily routine have you recently added to your day?

Learning 10 kanji a day. I decided to learn th 1945 basic kanji by the end of the year. That means I need to learn 200 a month, about 50 a week, or 10 a day. I started three weeks ago and I’m up to 235.

4. What routine do you wish you get rid of?

Looking for a job.

5. What’s the one thing that makes you feel like something is missing if you don’t do it some point within your day?

Writing. I realized last summer on our vacation in England that I had stopped writing and I no longer felt like myself. It took me almost five months to begin hearing the voices in my head again, and I still don’t write like I used to. And also walking in the garden, touching everything, putting my fingers in the dirt, smelling the new flowers. If I don’t connect with the garden every day, I don’t feel “grounded”.
