Apple Month
by M Sinclair Stevens. October 10, 1991.

It's Thursday morning: a perfect, clear autumn day, not yet cold. I've converted the living room into my study so that I can sit at my desk and look out the window at the courtyard as I write. I try to spend the mornings writing. If I don't stay home, then I go to the library to study. A lot has happened in my field in the last two years and it makes it difficult to interview for jobs without a basic understanding of the changes. In the afternoons I enter my notes on the computer. Then I do housework, and make dinner for JQS and me. We eat very seasonally and September is apple month for us: I bake two or three apple pies every week.

I don't know what I'm going to do when I work again. I can fill my days with housework as it is.
