Well, it's official. After living in Texas for 30 years, I speak English with a definite southern accent. My speech is peppered with other influences: my dad is from the midwest (Illinois), my mom is from the southwest (New Mexico) and I grew up all over the world, but mainly on the west coast.
I scored "70% (Dixie). A definitive Southern score!". Take the test. Yankee or Dixie?
I scored "68% (Dixie). A definitive Southern score!"--no doubt the 14 years I've lived in Texas has had some influence.

I was born in Tokyo, so I think I speak Japanese with a normal accent. My daughters were born in Tochigi, so they often speak Japanese with TOCHIGI accent. And Do you speak Japanese with OKINAWA accent?

My first Japanese teacher was from Tokyo and my current Japanese teacher is from Kobe. I'm guessing that our language tapes are made by people speaking with a Tokyo accent.
Although I lived in Okinawa as a child, my accent is probably more influenced by the two years I lived in Oita-ken. However, my guess is that I speak Japanese with a strong Texas accent--slowly and with all the vowels held unbearably long.

That's a really interesting site. I'd never heard of "Cabbage Night" or a "Party Barn." I scored a 36%, or definitive Yankee. This fits as I was born and raised in Madison, Wisconsin before moving to Japan.
A Japanese blog is a great idea!
じゃ、僕もなるべく日本語で書きます。
はだしのゲンという漫画を聞いたことがありますか?原子爆弾の事について書いてありますがすごく面白いですよ。漫画に興味がなくてもこの漫画を好きかも知れません。
