What I'm Trying to Say
Yay! My Japanese class ended today. Final exams are over. Winter vacation starts now.
So what am I going to do? (you ask)
Well. I plan to write a Japanese textbook. That's because I think our textbook is needlessly complicated. I'd like to call my book "Japanese Grammar Made Easier. "

I know that I have to keep studying throughout the semester break or I'll forget everything I've been taught. Notice that I didn't say "everything I've learned". I don't feel confident enough in my grasp of the material to say "I've learned this". Not yet. That's why I want to make my own book. When I try to explain something, I find I really have to learn it first.
Okay--so I'm not going to spend my entire vacation studying. First I have to clean house for the holidays. Then I have to decorate and cook and write Christmas cards. Wow! I need to get organized. I'm so, so glad that exams are behind me. Now I can focus all my energy on all the things I need to do at home.

Everybody probably feels relieved after examinations. Please relax and enjoy yourself. Well in my opinion, I want "English Grammar Made Easier". Now it is in December, everybody looks to be bustling about everywhere. AND in any countries house cleaning in this season is ---? I'm giving a sigh.

Mieko. The more I study Japanese grammar and try to compare it to English grammar, the more I'm thankful that I don't have to learn English. I could never learn English as a second language. It's so irregular! It's impossible! I don't see how you do it.

Good for you. :)
It's a great idea to make your own textbook. If there's something I can do for you, tell me any time.

Kiyo, thank you for your encouragement. I have always thought that writing one's own book was a great way to learn something. I may be calling on you (and everyone else) for help soon.
I realized that when I said I was finished, I also meant that this is the end of the "beginning", the "Let's Begin" of this blog.
It's time to rethink and reorganize and redesign for the new year. So, please everyone, be patient with me. すぐ日本語で書くつもりです。(I plan to write again in Japanese soon.)

This is a great site. Wow... I've been going crazy for the past few months trying to teach myself Japanese and trying to find other people who have the same excitement for the language. Sweet, this is a great site I have copied your flashcards and am working on them. You are quite the driven individual to want to write your own grammar book. You are correct in the fact that when you teach a language you learn more about it i.e. English. I can't tell you how many times I am just as amazed at the English grammar as my students. Learning Enlish as a second language would really be difficult, I'm glad I already know it. I currently teach EFL and am trying to get a masters in it. I want to go to Japan as soon as I graduate. I have a Japanese lanugage partner that is a beginner level as am I in Japanese so it is very interesting. I hope I am learning correctly. I will stop by more often now that I have found your site. Good luck and have a Merry Christmas... Matane
