Amazon Japan

I'm feeling smug as I've just managed to order something from amazon.jp. I'm hoping that what I ordered is an unabridged Japanese language version audio book of Harry Potter. But I couldn't ferret out all the meaning from the product description in Japanese. However, I did figure out that for those of us who grew up in the age of radio, listening to an audio performance will provide a certain nostalgia; and for those who grew up with TV, a new sense of wonder. Or something like that.

Ordering from amazon.jp turned out to be fairly simple, especially because I'm familiar with the layout of amazon.usa pages. And once I got into the checkout process, I was able to choose English language prompts. The only moment of panic came when I made an error in the form and the system threw me into the Japanese-language error messages. But I was able to translate that it didn't like a space in the furigana of my name. So all was well. I mean, as long as I actually bought what I'm hoping I bought. I should know in six to eight weeks.

I love Japanese books on tape, especially if I have the book to follow along with. Listen to the sample from Book 5 to see what I mean.

I have been trying to find Japanese laguage novels written by Japanese authors [preferably a mystery or thriller] that has an unabridged Japanese language audio version.

I've been unsuccessful with Japan Amazon as they don't seem to have an audio book category and the novel titles that I have don't have audio versions. I have THE WAITING YEARS, SHADOW FAMILY, CONFESSIONS OF A YAKUZA, TOTTO CHAN, OUT, AND IN THE MISO SOUP, but none of those have an audio version.

Hi all, I'm Yosuke in Japan.

I have found nipponDAZE just now. I'm glad that you keep up your interest in Japan and Japanese.

I know many people cannot read a letter of Japanese and are in trouble. Let me introduce my
website released on 2006.06.01 to you. I should have built it earlier.

This site is a support site for foreigners not good enough at Japanese to do online shopping
at Amazon.co.jp. Amazon is one of the biggest online shop also in Japan and should be used
for foreigners originally.

However, the English pages of Amazon Japan isn't substantial. Since most of products
explanations are written in Japanese, there is room for leniency, but Amazon's Japanese
labels ("Price" etc.) are inconvenience for you, aren't they?

Jampazon.com supports use of Amazon Japan in English. The main services are below;

- The labels ("Price" etc.) are almost displayed in English
- Search Amazon.co.jp
- The translation by page is available for the Japanese item information. Just click once.
- Recommend and comment the items you like in English.
- Much, much more.... Try!

Try to use our site and give me feedback. Hopefully, please post your comment on our site.
I really appreciate your feedback.

I couldn't bring up anything on the Jampazon site but Japanese and "Domain Error". I am looking for Pages from the Seasons, a book of Poetry by Fumiko Miura with English translation by James Kirkup--have been unable to buy in USA or England or Ireland. * According to the World Haiku Club: Book Mart it is available directly from the publisher Asahi Press. Go to their site and enter the ISBN 4-255-00145-6. -- mss
