Strange how doing the videotape for the new AET is making me depressed. I guess in trying to capture and summarize the last two years, I'm focusing intensely things I'll never see again.
On the videotape
Bicycled and taped Mt. Takasaki and the Beppu Tower. Up the street to Marashouku as the housewives are buying dinner. It's 90% women at the supermarket, and almost always older women. This is where I purchase my favorite tofu: the one in the waterfall.
Go over to the Cosmopia. Take photos of Wonder Planet, the newly remodelled basement is a child's fantasy-land. See two of my students, but I get more words out of the talking tree. This tree reminds me of "Babes in Toyland". I wonder if it's supposed to. In the center Sanrio store, stars are twinkling above and musicbox music is piping in the tune "My Way"
Go over to Tokiwa and video the food basement. Run into Tomoko and Jenny and two more students who are buying ice cream.

Begin again taping a video introduction for the new AET. Bicycle downtown. Look at tools and shoji paper. Run into Jenny and Tomoko at Tokiwa. Bicycle home. Very depressed. After taping Kato-Ken for MJN go to bed.
