I've been glad to see anti-war posters in my neighborhood recently. So I thought I'd share them with you. I know no one who is for this war. Although my circle of friends is small (and you might guess I wouldn't hang out with warmongers anyway), I'm glad to see that there is no support in my neighborhood, either. In fact, not a single American flag is flying. After the 9/11 attacks, perhaps one house in ten flew flags, where none had flown them before. But now, not a single flag is raised. I hadn't noticed it until I went looking.
You seem proud that no one in your neighborhood flies American flags. What is your reasoning behind this?

hi
i'm a 20 year old french girl very happy to see that americans are against war. i knew it but i'm won't be lying if i say that most of french people think that americans are all for war and supporting Bush. it makes me sad that a so powerful country (yours) encourages hatred between people. i wish that every single american could be like you because your country ( that i fell in love with after a trip in 1998) would be really very well represented.France and The USA together against war. all my love aline.

Truthfully, i read what u had to say and wish i could at least respect your opinion. I think it is funny how you found America such a wonderful place and fell in love with it like you say you did...while at the same time you have the audacity to denounce it the way you do. It sickens me that you are able to live in this country and take advantage of our hard earned freedoms but disgrace us like you do. If you're so against what our country stands for right now i recommend you take up residence where u came from, where you can believe whatever the hell you want without being such a hypocrite. I have people very dear to me that i respect and love who are in Iraq risking their lives for what THIS country stands for. If you are so against what our country stands for im sure Sadaam could use some more help, how about you try that, then tell me your opinion on this country and this war. As for all the Americans who are not supporting our soldiers...shame on you. Thousands of sons and daughters are risking their lives for you, and support back at home is slim. I personally fly a flag proudly on my car, and in front of my home. I love this country and everything it stands for. All of you who don't...don't deserve the priveledges granted to you. So bite your tounge, or leave.

I'm proud that as an American that I have not only the right to dissent with my government, but the responsibility to speak out against injustice. My father, a Korean war and Viet Nam war veteran taught me that, although he might not agree with everyone's point of view, he would die for the their right to say it. He was sacrifice his life for everyone's, not just the people that believed what he believed.
A right is not the same thing as a privelege. America is not about priveleges granted to one group or another. The rights we enjoy are inalienable rights--that is, rights that are not granted by our government, but are ours on the sole basis of our humanity. These rights belong to all people, not just Americans. But what's the point of saying that America stands for human rights when you want to take them away from anyone who doesn't agree with you?

"I begin to feel like I was in the last generation of Americans who took a civics class. I begin to feel like most Americans don't understand the First Amendment, don't understand the idea of freedom of speech, and don't understand that it's the responsibility of the citizen to speak out."
