The sun woke me up. It's been so long since I've felt the sun, I was startled awake. Though it was very humid, I took a chance and hung out the futons. When I went home for lunch, I considered bringing them in, but didn't.
At 13:30, I was talking to Rachel and the rain suddenly began pouring down. I ran home. (Where's my umbrella!) The sides of the futons hanging over the balcony were soaking wet.
When it stopped raining the moisture seemed to sweat from the plants, the ground, the walls, even the air itself. Moisture steamed up as if it were raining up, like a video tape playing in reverse.
Now at 19:00 only a few wispy clouds remain in the sky to the east, over the sea. The air is clear and I can breathe easily again. Clouds, looming behind the mountains to the west, are backlit by the setting sun. The sunset tonight in Nagasaki will be worth watching.
