Early in the morning, I ride my bicycle along the seawall. On the way home I see a fisherman going out in a small raft. His wife is with him and hands him his lunch wrapped up in a furoshiki. He gets into the raft and she pushes it into deep water. Then she stands still and attentive, her towel folded over her arms, watching until he is well on his way.
