Hamster update
Anyway, I've been contacted by the owner of the hamster site who doesn't want me to slander his character and website. I don't really know what to say. If the whole page was a sort of joke/troll, then I've certainly been taken in, so ha ha ha, it worked. On the other hand if it wasn't a troll, and it was an accident that the hamster floated off, I still think it wasn't very nice to the little dude, "ass", to fly him in a plastic bottle under some balloons.
So maybe I'll amend my description to say that I think it's just sad what happened to "ass", and it's sad that the people that flew him don't seem to think so.
By the way I found this via TheInquirer. The picture in the left hand column always links to something weird.

In what way do they think that you slandered them? (I admit that calling them "frat boys" was a little strong; still, if it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck...)
They created a public site. You reviewed it and stated your opinion. This is no more slander than my writing that I think "That 70s Show" sucks.
This is still (as of this writing) America. You are entitled to your opinion, and you are entitled to publish your opinion. Just because someone doesn't like your opinion of them doesn't mean you've slandered them.
When you first brought their site to my attention, I didn't agree with you that their actions were necessarily cruel. It was just a hamster, after all. But thinking about it more, they do seem to take a perverse delight in the "accident". If they set up the whole thing to get a little attention, then they are cruel, and they deserve whatever public scorn they receive. At the very least, they're morons.

BTW, a lawsuit should be fun and clear things right up if it's a hoax. And they'll probably have to pay your legal fees!
